Referral Process

Eligibility for The Lincoln Center is through a referral process which starts with a student's resident district Special Education department. Since the program is center-based and considered restrictive, the student referral process includes a review of less restrictive options in the resident district. When students needs require a center based program a referral may be made to The Lincoln Center. Student profiles, parent questionnaires, resident district IEP assessment and documentation, comprise the intake packet to start the referral process.

These are the types of students we serve:

5-26 years: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Instructional focus in an ASD (IQ of 40 to 70) classroom is based on the common core essential elements of the general education curriculum. These areas include:
- Sensory intervention techniques
- Language/communication/interactions skills
- Readiness and functional academic skills
- Personal care/health/physical fitness skills
- Leisure/recreation skills
- Social skills
- Pre-vocational and work behavior skills
- Adult daily living skills
- Community based instruction
- Transition planning
- Positive behavior supports

5-26 years: Cognitive Impairment & Emotional Impairment (Dual-Diagnosed/DD) 
Instructional focus in a DD (IQ of 40 to 70) classroom is based on the common core essential elements of the general education curriculum. These areas include:
- Language/communication/interactions skills
- Readiness and functional academic skills
- Personal care/health/physical fitness skills
- Leisure/recreation skills
- Social skills
- Pre-vocational and work behavior skills
- Adult daily living skills
- Community based instruction

- Positive behavior supports
